Guide to San Francisco Bay Area Creeks

POLLUTION EMERGENCY RESPONSE
SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREA

When you see an oil spill, dumping of toxic materials, or other pollution emergency do the following:

CALL FIRST: 911
The local fire departments are the designated first-responders for any toxic spill, and should bring in other agencies as appropriate.

ALSO CALL: (510) 622-2300
This is the California Regional Water Quality Control Board, they have a longer term responsibility for enforcement actions for toxic discharge into waterways. They are only open 8 AM. to 5 PM.

THEN CALL: (800) 533-7229
This is BayKeeper, they will provide citizen monitoring of the cleanup.

Now that you have notified the authorities, email us and tell us how it went. Are you satisfied with the results? Thanks for doing your part to protect our creeks and San Francisco Bay.
