SAN ANTONIO CREEK

San Antonio Creek, later known as Oakland Estuary, is the home of the Port of Oakland. This animated gif shows the conversion of a natural tidal slough to a modern harbor. Over the years, channels were dredged to accommodate larger ships and tidelands filled for docks and warehouses.
