Original Sixteen to One Entrance

Hard-rock mining involves tunneling underground to remove the gold ore. If done carefully, this can be the least environmentally damaging method of mining.

  1. Miners digging and blasting deep underground load the ore into these ore cars for transport to the surface.

  2. The skip-loader puts the ore into trucks for transport to factory-like mills and refineries.
