The primary purpose of SDAIE strategies is to access the prior knowledge of the student, especially the second-language English learner. SDAIE strategies also incorporate the use of primary sources, role-playing and demonstration. Student work (charts, writings, poetry and pictures) produced throughout these lessons can be saved in a "Reporter's Portfolio," made from several sheets of newspapers stapled together. Its contents can be incorporated into a class newspaper as the culminating activity. The Reporter's Portfolio can be used for assessment purposes both throughout the lessons and at the culmination of the lessons. |
